About The Type Guys’ Brackets.
Look over our shoulder to see how we approach the bracket process. Before any “tailoring” is done — as with any bespoke project that requires craftsmanship — we’ll assess your logo, headline, or wordmark to define the “problem” issues with the individual letter spacing (kerning).
Our methodology
First, the size of visual “holes” are identified using large and small dashed red circles. The next step is to highlight the space adjustment needed between the letters (or words) using thick and thin diagonal blue rules that indicate larger and smaller space increments respectively. Diagonal dashed blue rules indicate the need for a minor redraw of two letters that require an overlap to display optimal letter spacing.

{ BRACKET A – $250 }
We Analyze It! Type is no longer set by professional typographers – defaulting to the spacing of popular graphics programs. Bracket A’s TTG Report provides a detailed audit of your type file. Legibility and problem areas will be noted based on the letter spacing and scale.
{ BRACKET B – $750 }
We Fix It! Bracket B delivers our best value. After a review of your TTG Report and creative brief, we begin. We will take your vector file, tailor it and give you a new master type file. If we see anything else worth noting, we will contact you with our suggestions.
{ BRACKET C – $1,250 }
We Rebuild It! Bracket C offers alternate type styling based on the final file presented in Bracket B. Adding a simple outline, shadow, or selecting and tailoring a new font weight, can add greater visual impact.
