Tailoring a type file the proper way.
An effective campaign begins with a well-articulated creative brief followed by a smart implementation of type, image, and graphics. Sometimes the best intentions and executions fall short. We see it all of the time. Understanding type anatomy, design, legibility, technology, and production is what The Type Guys bring to the table. Where your logo, headline, or wordmark will reside and work is crucial to its final execution. When we deliver your file(s), we take everything into account to ensure you have the right art for the right platform.
Choosing a Bracket is as easy as A, B, C.
You can choose any of our three Brackets. Brackets B and C begin with and include Bracket A’s file analysis and TTG Report. See below for descriptions.
Bracket A
This initial file audit is where we identify issues with letter spacing (kerning) and line spacing (tracking) to improve legibility. We isolate the problem areas and send you a TTG Report.
Bracket B
This bracket offers the most value and includes your TTG Report. After receipt of your notes for media placement and following a phone review, TTG will tailor your file and send final art.
Bracket C
This bracket offers viable alternatives for those who want to consider different styles of their approved logo, head, or wordmark. It often takes a fresh eye to see if other treatments may work.
Legacy-based design options.
Lubalin Neu
An homage to Herb Lubalin typographic style, Lubalin Neu is an opportunity to engage The Type Guys to create a bespoke type expression that harkens back to the craft of illustrative typography, but fits today’s design sense and style as shown below. Neu (or neue) is the German word for “new” that was coined in the late 1950s and is associated with a redraw of an older (or existing) typeface. It also represents a new revival of an art genre or describes a visual approach that is in opposition to an earlier style. Learn more and schedule.
For this execution, the headline font (Machine Bold) was chosen to display the close-up of the food and creates an impactful message. Adding a complementary color in the punch line rounds out the ad with humor.
Committed to education.
Type Odyssey
This is a special educational opportunity supporting professors and students with hands-on guidance teaching the process and mechanics to achieve proper letter spacing and legibility. TTG is excited to offer our services to suit your school’s needs. Review Bracket options and schedule.
With decades of in-person class experience, The Type Guys now bring that same support in a virtual environment. Within the framework of typography, we have worked with students on concept development, to executing a strong type solution, to even exploring font design. And now TTG is available to share their knowledge and experience using their new model. Learn more about Type Odyssey.
Type Odyssey Dialogues
The Type Guys are creating short informational videos of type luminaries – from the design and printing industries – to capture their personal stories and perspectives about all things typographic – to create a knowledge-based video repository.
